In this tutorial we will be using this grungy image which already has some original texture of its own.
To follow this tutorial, just download a fully functional 30 day demo of Topaz Texture Effects here… 1) One-Click Texture Effect
Besides, Topaz has made an excellent job in developing a software that so easy to use that you will be creating wonders right from start. The only problem you will be facing is to decide which effect to keep.
And you can even create new ones in a few clicks. You can also customize those effects with ease. And you can apply them with just one click. It offers a wide range of pre-made and stunningly looking (yes that good) texture effects. This Photoshop plugin and standalone application, is literally a creativity machine. You have to start throwing some color correction tricks, vignettes, another texture, levels, and so on.įortunately Topaz Labs came up with a solution to this problem. Needless to say that your image will still look bad. If you don’t like it you will have to spend most of your day downloading textures that look good on the web but don’t blend well with your image. Just paste a texture on a layer above your image, apply an Overaly Blending Mode and you are done! Looks ugly, doesn’t it? Sorry. Yes i got upgraded from V 1.0.4 to V 1.0.Creating textured images in Photoshop is quite easy. If you don't have my other "challenges", then I highly recommend it, just be prepared for a bump or two. But maybe I'm the only one with these issues. Obviously I'm a fan of Topaz, really, but I think they may have released Studio a bit prematurely. I also have an open ticket on the adjustment re-set button not working correctly (the little circular arrow thingy): make an adjustment, use the re-set, make another adjustment, the re-setter is grayed-out. Yet it can find the server for the textures.
No matter what I try, I cannot get Studio to upgrade from v1.0.4 to v1.0.5 (I do have an open ticket on this). Yes it checks to see if there are any new textures for downloading good featureĦ. This is the final result: I liked the way this preset accented the blue of the fog. Back in PS I lowered the opacity of this layer to 70. (I totally un-installed v1.0.3 before getting 1.0.4 installed.) For this image I also did Topaz AI Clear in Studio, then in Texture Effects > Landscapes > Steel Glaze preset. I don't use textures at this time, I have plenty of textures, including Topaz Texture Effects, for the future. Once each day, when I allow Studio to connect to Topaz, it checks to see if there are any new (?) textures to download.
)ĭid use it as a standalone software topaz studio and was able to access all the pro adjustment without the internet connectionĭid try it as a plug-in with my host program photoshop CC-17 and did few edits and returned to the host program without any internet connection it did work fine.ĥ. (As a long-time Windows user, I am organically opposed to programs that "phone home" without my permission. Plus, each time Studio is used as a plug-in (instead of stand-alone), it closes when you're done editing, requiring re-connection. This is a pain as I am (1) on a metered internet account, and (2) often in areas where there is either no or very limited and sketchy internet access, sometimes for several days. In order to use the Pro Adjustments, you must allow Topaz Studio to connect to some Topaz server, or else they are grayed-out, unavailable. I tested the Precision Contrast and HSL Color Tuning Pro Adjustments, liked them better than Topaz Clarity, so bought the Pro package.Ĥ. photoFXlab (pFXl) as the plug-in front-end: pFXl has some issues saving TIFFs that are viewable by FastStone (this is my wife's and some friends favorite image viewer/organizer) there are some extra steps to the saving procedure for each edited image, so Studio is much better for me as the host program.ģ. (I haven't tested it yet with, but since all the other plug-ins work fine, I imagine Studio will too.)Ģ. (AP can open ReMask directly, when needed.) So I have Studio configured as a plug-in for AP, and as a helper/editor for both Zoner Photo Studio 18 & FastStone. Studio is a better, faster, front-end for the plug-ins than AP. It works great as a front-end for the plug-ins. As a front-end for the plug-ins (I have the entire suite): while waiting for the photoFXlab update, I tried and then bought Affinity Photo Windows (AP). before uploading, program is working perfectly fine without any problem.
So what is the take on using Studio as a front end by now compared to just staying with FXLab? Can it lead to better or quicker images? Thank you.ġ. Topaz Texture Effects 2.1.1 Win macOS Free Download Latest Version for Windows.
